At the end of South America

At the very south of the American double continent lies Ushuaia, in the middle of Tierra del Fuego's maze of islands. This Argentine city clings to the flank of the snow-capped mountain range, Montes Martial.

Ushuaia is the springboard for your Antarctic getaway. This is where expedition cruises depart for the south.

Before boarding your ship, pay a visit to the world's southernmost national park; home to guanacos, Andean jackals and numerous bird species such as the Magellanic woodpecker - one of the largest woodpeckers in the world.

    Departure to the Southern Ocean

Your Antarctic vacation begins. The Ocean Nova sets sail, leaves Ushuaia behind, passes the Beagle Channel and sets course for the Falkland Islands. Already you have the opportunity to look for birds. Magellanic penguins are looking for food here. Albatrosses sail by and petrels show how elegantly they connect sea and sky.

Until you reach the Falkland Islands, our polar experts will offer you their first lectures. You can be assured that you will learn polar knowledge at first hand! How long can whales dive? Why don't polar bears live in Antarctica? Where did Ernest Shackleton go? You will see Antarctica with different eyes.
