Flexibility and adaptability is of utmost importance on cruises with expedition character.

Your Franz Josef Land Tour begins on Svalbard

Longyearbyen is the gateway to the Arctic. And this is where your journey to Franz Josef Land starts. The former mining town is one of the northernmost settlements in the world and offers the flair and comfort of an international small town, despite its remoteness. You will stay overnight in a hotel and have time to explore the place on your own or with a guide.

    On board and cast off!

The next day it's time to cast off! Welcome aboard the Sea Spirit. And then we set sail. Leaving Longyearbyen and Spitsbergen behind, the Sea Spirit sets course for Franz Josef Land. The itinerary of an expedition to the far north can only be based on the current ice conditions and the weather forecast. You need to be flexible, because the route will change every day, taking into account animal observations, weather and ice. The experienced expedition leader and your captain will make the best of the existing conditions and present you an unforgettable experience. They plan the excursions ashore, on the ice and the rides with the Zodiacs, those agile and robust rubber boats without which nothing would be possible up here.
